Former Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities report that a former doctor has been charged with performing sexual assaults against thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
Details of the Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous sexual offences – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
One deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what police called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents said the forty-five charges comprise:
- 15 counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
