Iranian Forces State Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any destruction is uncertain and the US has remained silent.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their air space.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.
Wider Impacts
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported missile fragments landed in a residential area in the capital, causing some property damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
