Supporters Demand Arrest of Person Who Seized Ariana Grande
Devoted supporters of the actress are demanding that a man who leaped a barrier and grabbed the actress during the recent Wicked: For Good launch be detained or removed from Singapore.
A viral video shows the individual from Australia bypassing media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the performers walked down a yellow carpet surrounded by supporters.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo immediately wrested the stunned star away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the premiere by guards.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram recently that he was "free after being arrested", though court documents showed that he was set to be present on the following morning. It is not clear if he was charged.
Pattern of Disruptions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has disrupted a concert or event. His Instagram account features videos of him interrupting other celebrity events, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney performance in June this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers event in the area last winter.
"Measures must be taken enforced against him as this is clearly a punishable act," stated an Instagram follower, in a message to a video Mr Wen shared of his actions.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" another Instagram user questioned.
Followers Voice Worry Over Grande's Safety
Numerous supporters blamed Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed dealing with PTSD after a suicide bomb attack at the end of her spring 2017 show in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and injuring many.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" wrote another response on Instagram.
Some supporters also faulted security officers at the Thursday event for not being vigilant enough; while some requested social media platforms to block Mr Wen's uploads.
Response and Premiere Information
In videos spreading on the internet, Grande appeared startled when she was grabbed by the man. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted reassuring her while Mr Wen was removed by security.
Grande has not commented on the event, and the rest of the event proceeded as normal.
Hundreds of supporters had assembled in a sea of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good regional debut in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had queued for as long as a significant duration before it began.
The film, to be launched on 21 November, is the second of a two-part adaptation of the popular theatrical show Wicked, which focuses on the unlikely relationship between two contrasting characters.
The musical itself is a adaptation of the twentieth-century story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the character Glinda Glinda, was dressed in a rosé sparkling outfit at the event while Erivo, who acts as the Elphaba, wore a elegant ensemble decorated with roses.
They were accompanied by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the top-earning movie of the previous year in the UK, and scored 10 Academy Award nods, securing a pair for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
